چکیده

BackgroundDi(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) a parent compound that is metabolized into 4 metabolites, which correlate to adverse cardio-metabolic risk factors. This study aimed explore the links between urinary DEHP metabolites and serum lipids in U.S. general adult population.MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, data on 11 from 2005–2018 National Health Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) were analyzed. Multivariate linear regression restricted cubic spline (RCS) used examine relationship [specific DEHPs: mono-(2-ethyl-5-carboxy-pentyl) (MECPP), mono-(2-ethyl-5-hydroxy-hexyl) (MEHHP), mono-(2-ethylhexyl) (MEHP), mono-(2-ethyl-5-oxo-hexyl) (MEOHP)] (triglycerides [TG], total cholesterol [TC], low-density lipoprotein [LDL-C], high-density [HDL-C]). To identify mixed exposure effects of quantile g-computation (QG-C) weighted sum (WQS) employed for lipid profiles.ResultsA 9141 adults included analysis. MECPP, MEHHP, MEHP, MEOHP highest quartile had negative with HDL-C compared lowest (All P trend <0.05). TG showed significant positive relation <0.05), but there was no notable association MEHP. RCS demonstrated HDL-C, TC, TG, LDL-C (all nonlinearity >0.05). The WQS index independent correlations [β = −0.26, 95%CI (−0.43, −0.09), 0.002], TC 0.55, (0.13, 0.98), 0.011], 2.40, (0.85, 3.96), 0.003].ConclusionOur suggests environmental may affect levels population. Further research warranted confirm these findings illuminate underlying mechanisms lipids.

Characterization of Urinary Phthalate Metabolites Among Custodians.

Phthalates, a ubiquitous class of chemicals found in consumer, personal care, and cleaning products, have been linked to adverse health effects. Our goal was to characterize urinary phthalate metabolite concentrations and to identify work and nonwork sources among custodians using traditional cleaning chemicals and 'green' or environmentally preferable products (EPP). Sixty-eight custodians pro...

Urinary metabolites of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate are associated with decreased steroid hormone levels in adult men.

Experimental animal studies have demonstrated that exposure to some phthalates may be associated with altered endocrine function and adverse effects on male reproductive development and function, but human studies are limited. In the present study, urine and serum samples were collected from 425 men recruited through a US infertility clinic. Urinary concentrations of mono(2-ethylhexyl) phthalat...

Assessment of di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate exposure by urinary metabolites as a function of sampling time.

OBJECTIVES In most DEHP exposure assessment studies, single spot urine sample was used. It could not compare the exposure level among studies. Therefore, we are going to represent the necessity of selection of proper sampling time of spot urine for assessing the environmental DEHP exposure, and the association urinary DEHP metabolites with steroid hormones. METHODS We collected urine and plas...

Associations between urinary phthalate concentrations and semen quality parameters in a general population.

STUDY QUESTION Are urinary phthalate concentrations associated with altered semen quality parameters among males recruited from the general population? SUMMARY ANSWER Urinary levels of metabolites of phthalate diesters are associated with lower total sperm counts, larger sperm head sizes, and higher percentages of morphologically abnormal sperm. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY High dose experiments i...

Variability over 1 Week in the Urinary Concentrations of Metabolites of Diethyl Phthalate and Di(2-Ethylhexyl) Phthalate among Eight Adults: An Observational Study

BACKGROUND Phthalates are metabolized and eliminated in urine within hours after exposure. Several reports suggest that concentrations of phthalate metabolites in a spot urine sample can provide a reliable estimation of exposure to phthalates for up to several months. OBJECTIVES We examined inter- and intraperson and inter- and intraday variability in the concentrations of monoethyl phthalate...
